The Making Of

May 23, 2001 - Experiencing Houston, especially its pollution!
The crew dodges pickups and SUVs as they look for traffic jams to shoot - not a difficult task in Houston.

The filming of the Houston portion of Easy Breathers is almost done already! After our usual breakfast, we were ready to shoot. The first location for the day was right outside of the Houston South Division Police Department where the traffic was horrendous at only 8:30 in the morning!

Filming took place at one of Houston's many congested interchanges.

The actors simulated that the smog from traffic is bad enough to leave a layer of grime on your skin and clothes.

From our shooting location we could see several different layers of traffic, including streets, onramps and highways. With the scenery of downtown Houston, Jenny Pelej, from the Wisconsin DNR, and I camped out in a grassy area on the side, out of the way of cameras, crew and traffic. The students from Jones H.S. were able to join us again for the taping along with Ms. Sarwar.

The students from Jones and Marshall High Schools were eager to help one another out.

By 9am, Jenny and Geo were ready to shoot, along with Emmy, our talent from Jones H.S. As always, the Jones students were actively working with crew and Milwaukee students to experience this rare opportunity.

Tico, from Jones High School, uses the opportunity to catch some footage of the "making of" Easy Breathers.
