Fuels

Cars have been running on gasoline and diesel for a long time. These fuels are reliable and convenient, but not very efficient. And we all know that their widespread use has led to build up of pollution in the air we breathe. A lot has been done to create emissions standards and improve these fuels to make them cleaner. Unfortunately the numbers of cars on the roads keeps increasing, defeating any pollution measures taken so far. A new approach must be taken.

We are learning more about alternative fuels, and they are becoming more commercially available. Henry Ford announced in 1925 that ethanol would be the fuel of the future. Electric cars have been around since World War II. The fuel cell concept was derived in the 1830s. Isn't it about time we start using them?
